The
Rhea County News Paper
"Rhea County's REAL Information Source"
Have you not noticed how your elected officials always seem to flap off their mouths saying
how that YOU need to be protected, but just protected by them?

Ever notice that somehow during all the "scardy cattiness", YOU have become LESS secure
and MORE broke? Do you enjoy paying OVER $4.00 a gallon for gas while YOUR Special Police
Chief bebop’s all around the city in an SUV checking on his rental property at YOUR expense?

Do you ever wonder if the council in all it's wisdom
<cough> will one day change the name of
Dayton to Vincentville, Sneedville or perhaps Welchville? I would bet that the only reason
such idiotic thinking hasn't been tried yet is because they probably can't agree on whose
name to use. I think I could suggest several good ones...

Ever wonder just how many kin folk of Dayton City manager, Frank Welch are on the city
payroll that YOU pay for? Why not ask him sometime and watch his face get all red. I mean,
how old is this dude? Wasn't he the main one running his mouth about Jack Arnold being too
old to hang around sleeping on the city payroll? Let's get real folks, seriously.

By the way,
is this his son?

Have you ever wondered just how in the heck the president can protect YOU when he is
simply a man that needs protecting himself? I mean after all, how can anyone stand up and
say they are going to protect YOU when they need a Secret Service team that must shut down
a 10 block radius just to protect them? How is that?

Now, taking that same concept to a local level, how does your  elected officials protect you?

Do you feel confident in your local leaders? Do you?

Why is it that the city of Dayton will easily flop down over one million bucks in the name of
keeping YOU safe and then turn around and act like they don't have any money when it's
something that could really benefit YOU, such as saving fuel, stop insisting on salary
increases for friends and themselves, stop increasing the electric and water bills all the time?

Ever wonder just how much of that million bucks went for "morale boosters"? I swear folks, I
can feel absolutely fine when I start typing these things, but it is like a cold sickness that
creeps all over me making me feel nauseous as I type them. I need a puke bucket...

How in the world does a small town police department get a whopping one million dollar
budget anyways? A fellow could probably buy the entire city of Graysville for a million bucks!
And on top of that, who in their right mind would hand that kind of money over to a dude
who almost qualified for special education? Someone please explain that one to me. Imagine,
the city of Dayton  does not even have to maintain a jail and still has a one million dollar
police budget! Unbelievable...

Speaking of safety, I am certain that if you dug a hole about 40 foot deep and crawled down in
it and then covered it with a 3 foot thick piece of steel you would be safe. You may live a
dismal existence as a mole or something, but I suppose you would be safe. As for me I think
I'd just soon have a few dollars in my pocket and carry a ball bat around or something instead
of being broke and relying on Frank Welch to protect me. I mean come on people!

In the words of George Carlin…Take a chance!!!

I am not going to write an article about how 6,000 residents must foot the bill for
$1,000,000.00 police departments, free gas, new fire trucks, free gas, new salaries for the
Dayton council, free gas, massive pay increases for a fire chief who according to YOUR local
media never even applied for the job and not to mention, FREE GAS.

I also won't mention how several experienced fire chiefs from other areas put in applications
for Jack Arnold's fire chief job yet Frank Welch gave the job to a cop. I also will not go into
how the assistant chief is also none other than another cop either. I bet old Frank and the
boys knew all along exactly who they was going to hire and how much of YOUR money to pay
them as well. Just like everything else, it seems these dudes simply go through the motions of
doing something on YOUR behalf and then with the assistance of the Herald-News, they blow
smoke up your (_
o_) making you think they are working for YOU when the reality of it is
they are only helping themselves. Just think of it as Thanksgiving and your the turkey. Makes
just as much sense in allowing them to feed off YOU and YOUR KIDS, doesn't it?

Don’t think so? How about comparing THEIR wealth to YOUR LACK of wealth. Not to
mention, their FREE GAS.

YOUR public officials simply have done things with impunity for so long that it is like an old
pair of drawers to them -- just feels natural I guess.

Do you ever fear walking anywhere near that old ugly building in town, you know the one
with that
enormous green ugly azz'd roof? My God that place is ugly. Ever walk around behind
that building and check out how hazardous and unsafe it looks? What happens IF that old
building was to fall down under all that enormous weight added on it? What then?

Will that same "
anonymous" person send me another email calling me jealous? I think these
"anonymous" dudes get each of us who write these articles mixed up. Geeez Usss.

There is plenty of time to write about those things later on. Then again, maybe I won't write
about them because does it do any good?

You know, in a strange sort of way, I think it does. The readership of this online alternative
newspaper has tripled in the last 4 months. For that, I say thank you for rewarding our efforts
by at least clicking on the website. Sure, a very select few people hate what we do, but then
again, if the haters want to act like a poison rose then someone has to be the thorn. May as
well be us. Then again, who is "
us"?

In any event, I will get back to my original intended message. My message is a relatively
simple one being,
When you think of placing your physical well being into the hands of
someone else...THINK AGAIN!!!

We have already published a few stories where police have absolutely no duty to protect you.
Isn't that something?

Dayton residents pay a massive one million bucks a year for police protection and Rhea
County
(as well as Dayton residents -- double whammy for YOU GUYS)) pay a whopping...
well, we don't
really know what you all pay. Sorry. It must be a secret. You know, I certainly
can't blame them for not wanting to tell you. Now don't hold me to it but I am under the
strong impression that the county foots over around 4 million bucks a year for police
protection.
I don't know. If it is 4 million dollars then YOU might need to think about some
sort of change or something. Then again, hey, it's only YOUR money, right?

I know, if it wasn't so sickening it would be funny.

YOU fork out millions of dollars a year for police protection that they legally don't even have
to provide
to you, although YOU pay for it. Wow!!!

Maybe a good name for Dayton would be Naziville.

How do you think YOUR elected and appointed officials feel when they read things like this?
Do you think they get pissed off? I bet they do. So, should you all crawl in that 40 foot hole
because people liken unto snakes, sponges and fossils get pissed off?

See, I drifted off once again...

Okay, well in any event
, there is a video floating around (see it below) that shows a helpless
woman dying on the floor in the psych ward at Kings County Hospital up in New York state.
The sick sad part is she flopped out of a chair into the floor dying and
while people around
her, including a security guard,
they did nothing to help her. And no, I am not referring to
that 28 million dollar over priced Rhea County hospital either. I know, it may indeed sound
like it but I don’t think it has gotten that bad
, yet. If so, it sure won't be on a video.

After an hour, another patient finally got the attention of the obviously insensitive hospital
workers, according to the video tape.
You can see this for yourself.

Worse still, the surveillance tape suggests hospital staff may have falsified medical charts to
cover the utter lack of treatment provided the lady,
49 year old Esmin Green, before she died.

Sound familiar folks?

"Thank God for the videotape because no one would have believed this could have happened,"
said Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union.

"There's a clear possibility of criminal wrongdoing with regard to record keeping, and that has
to be investigated."

A federal suit filed last year in Brooklyn alleged neglect and abuse of mental patients at the
hospital. The suit sparked an investigation by the Brooklyn U.S. attorney's civil rights unit
before the June 19 death.

Two different security guards spotted Green, a native of the island of Jamaica, prone on the
floor and did nothing, the tape shows. They
have been fired, along with four other staffers.

Green, who was only 49, taken to the unit for "agitation," keels over out of her chair at 5:32a.
m., according to the time stamp on the video. She had been sitting about 3 feet from an
observation window. Two other patients were in the room with her.

Green is lying face
down on the floor, her legs sprawled, when a security guard strolls by at
5:53 a.m., looks down at her for about 20 seconds and then simply walks away.

She is writhing on the floor, thrashing her legs, about 6 a.m., when her medical chart
contends she was "awake, up and about, went to the bathroom." (see how easy it is to falsify a
record folks?)

Green rolls on her back at 6:04 a.m. She stops moving at 6:08 a.m., but two minutes later a
security guard pushed his chair into camera view.

He never gets out of the chair, but looks at Green and scoots away. A female patient who was
in and out of the room finally brings a clinic staffer to check the woman and a crash cart is
then summoned.

The medical chart claims she was "sitting quietly in [the] waiting room" at 6:20 a.m.,
although she was already dead. I guess in a strange way there is some truth in that statement
because you just can’t sit no quieter than sitting quietly DEAD. Geez Usss. Almost sounds as
bazaar as any one of those famous Rhea County suicides doesn’t it?

In any event, local officials said the same old song and dance that pretty much all other
officials say when they get caught, or one of their buddies get caught, which is…“the cause of
death is still under investigation”.
When you think of placing your physical well being into
the hands of someone else
...
THINK AGAIN!
