The Rhea County News Paper

"Rhea County's REAL Information Source"

After more than 25 years of spoon feeding events labeled as
news, spinning stories to make certain people look good while
ignoring important stories and news that concerns Rhea County,
Beaky Buzzard, aka Ed Emens has finally retired as publisher of
the Herald-News, Rhea County’s OLDEST inadequated newspaper.
This is one story that has been long awaited, but in any event,
a story event predicted by RheaCountyNewspaper.com months ago.
Emens delved in publishing ventures and has pretty much made
his mark in a rather ineffective way. Everything from state
corporate charter revocations to doubling the price of the
Herald-News while maintaining only 3 to 4 major stories per
edition, can be attributed to Emens’ list of accomplishments.
Well, some may view such as accomplishments but many chalk it
all up as one long drawn out failure.
Under Emens’ leadership, the Herald-News transitioned from a
weekly paper to twice weekly in 1985 and added Rhea County
Online (www.rhea.xtn.net) in 1998. In 2008 (the year
RheaCountyNewspaper.com predicted to be his last year) the
Herald-News felt the pressure once again and attempted to copy-
cat the success of Rhea County’s NEWEST newspaper (www.
RheaCountyNewspaper.com) by changing their online website name
from www.Rhea.net.xtn (sounds rather stupid for an online
publication doesn’t it) to www.RheaHeraldNews.com. We love
setting the NEW pace to the NEW way news and media is evolving
in our modern times. We also take the mimicking of our online
newspaper as a compliment as well.
Emens said, “I am convinced that The Herald will continue to
meet the news and advertising needs of Rhea County in a
professional way for many years to come.”
This is too laughable to comment much on because we are
awaiting our other past prediction about an in depth
investigation into “puffing” circulation numbers, "puffing" of
stories such as the heroic rescue by Ronnie Raper diving into a
rapid creek and event reports written by a reporter who wasn't
even at the events he was reporting on. This prediction is yet
to come true, but we feel rather confident that any wrongdoing,
if any at all is found, will land right in the lap(s) of where
it belongs and resignations disguised as retirements will not
do much good at that point.
In spite of a rather an obvious neglected dilapidated body,
Emens said he intends to keep active with his landscaping and
yard work and is contemplating another business endeavor,
possibly in real estate.
Hey, Emens may as well dive into real estate because virtually
every person in public eye makes money off of real estate so
Beaky may as well cash in some more too. The only thing funnier
than Ed Emens slithering away from exposure of biased reporting
under the cloak of journalism, is Emens’ plans on sticking
around and hold the title “publisher emeritus“. For those of
us who had to look this latin word “emeritus” up it means
“retired but retaining an honorary title corresponding to that
held immediately before retirement”. However, it sure sounds
fancy, but the title is normally used by retired professors and
Emens sure isn’t a professor. He is now just another dried up
prune that has fell off the old prune tree.
So maybe we can throw a few latin words out there ourselves to
wish Ed Emens a retirement with peace of mind, but it is
doubtful peace can be found when trying to hide from those
things inside ourselves. With that said, we say that the
utterings of a pathetic person are just aegri somnia and to
always remember, stercus accidit!!!
Ed Emens out to pasture; Another RCN prediction comes true!

emeritus - “retired but retaining an
honorary title corresponding to that

aegri somnia - "a sick man's dreams"
